  • Helps eliminate audio hum and horizontal scrolling bars caused by ground loops.
  • Low insertion loss – transparent to all cable TV signals and services, from 100Hz up to 860MHz.
  • Eliminates loops by isolating the ground connection between components so that currents cannot pass.
  • Should be used to supplement a well grounded system A/V Home Theater, when grounding issues persist.

Product Description
When two or more devices are connected to a common ground through different paths, ground path noise or a ground loop can occur. This is actually quite common in home theater systems, even those that are well designed. The result of a ground loop is audio hum and/or horizontal bars in the TV picture. Disconnecting coaxial connections between components eliminates the hum or interference. If “beefing up” conventional ground connections and establishing solid ground points in your cable system does not resolve these problems, then a CableTVamps Ground Isolator is the most reliable way to fix it…. There is a reason that his gadget has all 5-star reviews: It really works! After moving into a newly built apartment building, I noticed a loud hum coming from my audio equipment as well as scrolling bars on a few cable channels. Like the other reviewers here, I traced the problem to a ground loop coming from the Time Warner cable connection. As soon as I installed this little guy, everything was fixed!

  3. My cable TV had a ground loop that caused a terrible 60 cycle hum when my Blu-Ray player was hooked up to another input of the amplifier that they both share. By connecting this between the cable coming into the house (using the filter connector labeled SYSTEM) and the cable box (using the connector labeled SUBSCRIBER), this hum was completely eliminated. I can crank the audio to 100 percent, a level at which a whisper would blow out my speakers, with the cable DVR paused, and there is no perceptible sound. I can do the same thing with the DVR selected, with identical results.

Also, my cable Internet seems to be unaffected by the addition of this filter. I do have a Y adapter, one branch of which goes to my cable modem and the other branch of which goes to my cable DVR box, and I did take the precaution of inserting the filter only on the branch that goes to the cable DVR box, so it is possible that there would have been an issue had I not connected it in that manner, but that might have worked fine, as well.

Note that since my Y connector has a female output and the filter has two female outputs, I had to buy a female to female F-adapter from eek technology, which just arrived and seems to work fine. Without the Y adapter that was already part of my system, I would not have needed the F-adapter.

No amount of cable rerouting could solve a ground loop problem caused by adding a digital filter component (Behringer FBQ2496) to my audio/video chain. This filter eliminated what was a severe ground-loop hum. There is no sign, not a trace, of hum with this device installed.

For those who have a bad hum in their home theatre audio and don’t know what to do, note that the coaxial cable connection to TV is the usual culprit in this situation. Put this filter (isolator) in series with the coaxial cable into your TV and the hum should be eliminated.
