Spectacular picture that autoadjusts to the ambient light in the room Great sound that autoadjusts down when loud commercials come on. Lots of inputs and lots of adjustments if you are into tweaking "everything." Had just one problem with the set when I first got it. The sound was out of lipsynch on some channels. However, LG sent a tech out to my house to install a software upgrade that eliminated the problem. That was impressive. This is also a very good looking set, even when it is not on. Also, when the set was delivered from Amazon, the delivery men unpacked the TV, attached it to its swivel stand and set it in place for me. They connected it and turned it on to make sure that it was working properly. All that, at no extra charge. I highly recommend this TV.

I am not a person who watches TV, but when my old one went, I got this LG & it looks amazing compared to anything I have seen in a TV. Especially with High Definition DVD's & I'm sure BluRay (which I am soon getting)
The picture looked like a 3D picture that had alot of depth to the picture. The blacks are true black & the characters in the TV show move quite lucidly, I have to say I have never seen anything like this before, it's very different than any TV. You can zoom to different aspect ratios, make it bigger, but it does lose quality when you zoom. I haven't used my computer over the TV yet, but will play some movies from my hard drive when I get a wireless cable/USB
The TV is really pretty even when it's turned off, it has a clear lucite frame on the outside edges of the black bezel that frames the TV. There is no glare at all on the picture, even with the lamp on, or the sun shining through the blinds.
The only thing I noticed, is when the actor speaks, you can sometimes see pixels in the mouth, but it's not really a deal breaker, as I said before, it looks amazing to me & HD shows like Smallville (dvd), really pop out with the colors the way it was filmed, enhanced, etc.. Yes this looks awesome, but if I had the money, I would have bought a newer TV, as I'm sure the newest ones look even better. All in all, I think this was an excellent choice that I am still happy about!

Taking a time out here to say I've had this TV for almost 8 months.

Excellent picture, clear, well-defined with good color, easy menu controls, good sound features. Viewing at an angle, the picture still looks very good. I know contrast ratio on some of the new Panasonics has skyrocketed, so I would not get too hung up with that, because on this TV, at 80,000:1, the contrast ratio is very good. Menu adjustments for picture and sound are vey simple. For my taste the color is already very good out of the box. For sound, there is a feature to adjust the overall sound level (6 levels), with each higher level representing a new higher range of volume for the +/- adjustment on the remote. Too, you can adjust the treble and bass, and the end result can be very, very nice.

Regular dvd movies look great on it, and that was something I was concerned about because of the bigger screen--definition is so good, I don't even need to consider Blue Ray. One concern was whether the HD would make DVD movies have the look of daytime soap operas, that is, staged, as though in a theatrical play and not actually filmed or having the look of cinema, and the HD does give it that kind of staged, unreal look--but thankfully, it's an easy fix. Thanks to an earlier reviewer for pointing it out, in the menu picture settings you have to go to advanced controls, turn off the TruMotion 240Hz feature, then make sure have the Real Cinema feature turned on. Bottom Line: I would highly recommend LG televisions.

I should mention the source of the signal for my TV was not cable or satellite, but a Terk indoor HD TV antenna that picks up all the local San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose channels very well (excellent HD at zero cost per month!), given distance of about 10 mi from Oakland, 20 mi from San Francisco, and 30 mi from San Jose.

Hope this was of some help to someone.

This might be a great TV but I don't know as mine does not work. Shipped fast and the box looks fine. Plugged it in and hooked it up . . . basically, I get a very brief flash of a picture, long enough to see something there, such as the menu or source, but not long enough to read anything. I get three to five of these flashes then the unit powers itself off. Very frustrating. Also, though one can buy a TV and have it shipped and delivered in a few days it takes two weeks to have LG send somebody to come look at it. Depending on the outcome of the service visit I'll either update my review or send it back and buy something else.

UPDATE: LG did send a guy out to fix the unit (replaced the back light power supply) so it does now work - does look awesome. Still deleting a star for annoyance factor.

No amount of cable rerouting could solve a ground loop problem caused by adding a digital filter component (Behringer FBQ2496) to my audio/video chain. This filter eliminated what was a severe ground-loop hum. There is no sign, not a trace, of hum with this device installed.

For those who have a bad hum in their home theatre audio and don't know what to do, note that the coaxial cable connection to TV is the usual culprit in this situation. Put this filter (isolator) in series with the coaxial cable into your TV and the hum should be eliminated.

My cable TV had a ground loop that caused a terrible 60 cycle hum when my Blu-Ray player was hooked up to another input of the amplifier that they both share. By connecting this between the cable coming into the house (using the filter connector labeled SYSTEM) and the cable box (using the connector labeled SUBSCRIBER), this hum was completely eliminated. I can crank the audio to 100 percent, a level at which a whisper would blow out my speakers, with the cable DVR paused, and there is no perceptible sound. I can do the same thing with the DVR selected, with identical results.

Also, my cable Internet seems to be unaffected by the addition of this filter. I do have a Y adapter, one branch of which goes to my cable modem and the other branch of which goes to my cable DVR box, and I did take the precaution of inserting the filter only on the branch that goes to the cable DVR box, so it is possible that there would have been an issue had I not connected it in that manner, but that might have worked fine, as well.

Note that since my Y connector has a female output and the filter has two female outputs, I had to buy a female to female F-adapter from eek technology, which just arrived and seems to work fine. Without the Y adapter that was already part of my system, I would not have needed the F-adapter.

There is a reason that his gadget has all 5-star reviews: It really works! After moving into a newly built apartment building, I noticed a loud hum coming from my audio equipment as well as scrolling bars on a few cable channels. Like the other reviewers here, I traced the problem to a ground loop coming from the Time Warner cable connection. As soon as I installed this little guy, everything was fixed!
